16TH AGM of Association of Nepalese Alumni from Australia (ANAA)

The 16th annual general meeting of ANAA was conducted in Kathmandu College of Management (KCM) on 20th September, 2014.

This program was inaugurated by His Excellency Glen White, ambassador of Australia to Nepal by lighting a candle, and it formally began by chairing the outgoing chairperson of AANA, Prof Damodar Prasad Pokhrel, H.E Glen White, the chief guest of the AGM and other outgoing board members.

Dr. Divya Singh Shah, the outgoing Vice- Chairperson of ANAA, gave the welcome speech describing about the formation of ANAA saying that it’s a social education society aimed at sharing information formed by likeminded people. Ms Shah left the stage highlighting the contribution of Australian education in developing their personality.

Then, His Excellency addressed the meeting by congratulating the 44 scholars who came to Australia this year. He mentioned that the event is of high importance for the overall development of Nepal as ANAA can help to further strengthen the relationship between Nepal and Australia.

He added that ANAA is a non- government, non-political and not-for-profit organization of professionals graduated from various universities and education institutions of Australia ,established as an educational social society, with an aim of exchanging theoretical and practical know-how, skill, experience and refinement.

Then, Mr. Kumod Shrestha , general member , forwarded his view of the support Nepal is getting from Australian government and many things Nepal has to learn from Australia basically in the management of water resources and irrigation facility as Australian people are the masters of forestry and irrigation.

This was followed by Dr Ram Hari Lamichhane, former Vice Chairperson of ANAA thanking Mr Bishnu Raj Adhikari, Principal of Kathmandu College of Management, for all his efforts as a Founding General Secretary.

Lastly, certificates of life time membership was awarded to some members of AANA. And the the session ended with Mr. Bishnu Raj Adhikari, the Founding General Secretary of ANAA recollecting the history of ANAA and cherishing its sixteen years of completion.
